Art Think Jr program engages local elementary schools and after-school centers to teach students about contemporary art using the Art Think process. For three weeks, an art educator leads Art Think Jr for one class period at the participating school or center. Students are invited to Dallas Contemporary to learn about the art on exhibit on the fourth visit.

Art Think offers a fresh collaborative approach, using the method of Socratic inquiry by teaching students how to look at, think about and talk about art and their own lives. It is a powerful program that teaches the classroom teacher new skills, strengthens existing school and youth group activities and adds a new dimension to school programming.

Created in collaboration with Philip Yenawine of Visual Thinking Strategies, Art Think puts Dallas in a national arena. This prototype curriculum actively engages students in looking at contemporary art as it relates to their everyday lives ~ a totally new approach!

Art Think is Dallas Contemporary’s educational focus ~ We offer our off-site program and field trips throughout the school year and summer that engages even the youngest students in Art Think.
