SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL

Dallas Contemporary thrives because of the generosity of our community. Your gift supports bold exhibitions, dynamic programs, and free admission—keeping contemporary art accessible to all and making meaningful connections across Dallas.

Dear friends,

You may have heard us saying lately that Dallas Contemporary is a Kunsthalle. That’s the German word for ‘art hall’ or a non-collecting art museum. Let’s think of a Kunsthalle like a dining hall or dance hall or a lecture hall – a place where people gather to share a meal, share the two-step, share ideas, because it’s good to be transformed by the collective energy of a local community.

At Dallas Contemporary, the only museum of its kind between Oklahoma City and Houston, we work to guide a broad and diverse public out into the ever-expanding frontier spaces of art being made NOW. Here, you’ll share encounters with art in ways that are enriching and surprising, reflecting back the spirit of our time:

You’ll see major exhibitions
by living artists from all over the world but also from right there in the city that we proudly proclaim in our name. You’ll witness new performances and experiments in sound and film by artists, dancers, and musicians in DC EMPTY. You’ll hear DC TALKS by authors and historians, artists and curators, collectors and advisors. You’ll experience the Dallas Art Book Fair, where all the books are dedicated to art or made by artists. You’ll cheer for the emerging artists that are part of our trailblazing North Texas Graduate Student Program. You’ll gather with strangers and friends to dance during our Summer Series concerts. And you’ll do most of these things at no cost with FREE daily admission.

In whatever way you connect with us at DC, we hope it makes you feel part of something so dazzling, brave, unorthodox, rigorous, gratifying, electric, and weird that you’ll be glad there’s a strange word like Kunsthalle to describe it.

During this season of reflection and giving, we invite you to think about how special and vital the work of Dallas Contemporary is for this city, and beyond.

Please support your one-and-only local Kunsthalle.

Always, with gratitude,
Lucia Simek
Executive Director
