Sunday, January 11, 2026
5:00 - 7:00 PM
161 Glass St. Dallas
We are thrilled to invite you to an evening dedicated to showing our appreciation for current members + experience the perks of a DC membership.
This month, join us for a hands-on air dry clay workshop led by Jiatong "Tong" Yao.
Discover a hybrid sculpture experience inside Pam Evelyn: Salvaged Future, led by artist and technologist Tong Yao, whose work sits at the intersection of art and emerging technology. In this hands-on workshop, participants will create handmade objects using air-dry clay, which Tong will later transform into a collective digital space.
The session will begin with an introduction to form-building and material exploration, followed by guided creation time. This workshop is ideal for artists, designers, and curious learners of all skill levels who are interested in tactile making, digital translation, and the evolving relationship between art and technology. All materials will be provided.
By the end of the evening, you’ll leave with a sculptural object of your own—and the knowledge that your work will live on within a shared digital environment inspired by Evelyn’s expressive paintings and Tong’s conceptual framework.
We are deeply grateful for your commitment to our museum – your support ensures that DC remains always different, always free.

Saturday, 17 January, 2026 + Sunday, 18 January, 2026
2:30 PM - 4:30 PM
161 Glass St. Dallas
Free admission
DC's performance and film series, DC EMPTY, continues into 2026 with 'Lone Star Dream Journal,' a multimedia durational performance.
Drawing from sites south of the Dallas County line; Red Oak, Ferris, Wilmer, and Lancaster, the work reflects the landscapes where, as Pinson describes, “the metropolitan area dissolves into rural emptiness,” and where they have spent most of their life.
Blending sound, film, and set elements, Lone Star Dream Journal centers on a live performance of compositions rooted in musique concrète, the experimental musical tradition advanced by the Groupe de Recherches Musicales and shaped by artists such as Luc Ferrari, Claire Rousay, and Eliane Radigue. Guided by the philosophy of concrete music, Pinson collects and synthesizes sound and imagery from their hometown environment, transforming these materials into an immersive audiovisual experience.
Created in collaboration with Ft. Worth independent sound system EZ Clap (led by engineer Adam Tunnard) and installation + projection artist Lilian Mecca, the performance will unfold as a two-hour durational work on Saturday, January 17, and Sunday, January 18, from 2:30–4:30 PM. Guests are welcome to enter and exit the space freely throughout the experience.
ABOUT DC EMPTY
DC EMPTY is a performance and film programming series presented in collaboration with regional artists, providing a short-term venue for them to deploy a range of time-based work in available space throughout the museum.

Known for her expansive, abstract canvases that explore nature, the body, and materiality, Pam Evelyn’s work is characterized by dense layers and rich textures, created through an intuitive process that translates her lived experiences into vibrant, dynamic compositions. Evelyn's works are deeply engaged with the legacy of Abstract Expressionism while maintaining a distinctly contemporary sensibility.
Chris Wolston explores the ecstatic potential of form, where decoration becomes a mode of expression and function yields to fantasy. Drawing from Art Nouveau, pre-Columbian symbolism, and architectural excess, Wolston blurs the line between the sculptural and the domestic. Iconic works like his terracotta and Nalgona chairs appear alongside new creations, forming a richly layered narrative that revels in material transformation, bodily gesture, and the wild, seductive force of nature. Featuring lighting and furniture, the exhibition offers a dynamic and immersive expression of Wolston’s evolving practice.

Sponsored by the Augustus Owen Foundation, this event is the first in a series of education programming at Dallas Contemporary designed promote cross cultural dialog.
Ailbhe Ní Bhriain is an Irish artist working with film, computer generated imagery, collage, tapestry, print and installation. Ní Bhriain’s work is rooted in an exploration of imperial legacy, human displacement and the Anthropocene. These intertwined subjects are approached through an associative use of narrative and a painstakingly crafted visual language that verges on the surreal. She sidesteps directive positions and familiar binaries, exposing instead the layers of ambiguity and contradiction embedded in these fraught issues. The resulting worlds she creates are at once idiosyncratic, irresistible and deeply unsettling. Her work has been exhibited widely both nationally and internationally and regularly involves collaboration with musicians and composers.
Dr. Katherine Brodbeck is the Hoffman Family Senior Curator of Contemporary Art at the Dallas Museum of Art.
