Eduardo Sarabia’s This Must Be the Place, presented at Dallas Contemporary (April 20–August 27, 2023), reimagined the gallery as a Mexican hacienda to explore themes of home, memory, and cultural identity. Moving through rooms like a courtyard, kitchen, and chapel, visitors encountered Talavera ceramics, stained glass, and painted landscapes that bridged personal history with broader narratives of migration and myth. Rooted in Sarabia’s transnational experience and collaboration with Cerámica Suro, the exhibition blended craft and concept to examine belonging, ritual, and the layered meanings of place.
