THE LINEUP

DC Micro-exhibition Openings:
Claire Kennedy + Chance Al-Hajji

Friday, 26 June 2026

6.00 - 9.00 PM | $15 GA (includes 2 drinks, 21+) | Free for Members

Join Dallas Contemporary to celebrate the opening of two micro exhibitions;

Claire Kennedy: Freckles is intimate and sentimental, Kennedy’s interdisciplinary practice is not afraid to explore unconventional materials. Small works made out of paper pulp, paint mixed with sand and glitter, these tchotchke sized objects walk the line between painting and sculpture. Interested in collection and organization, Kennedy’s Charms and Protection Paintings are installed in small clusters around her studio. These objects are flexible, they allow Kennedy the room to intuitively install them as she sees fit, constructing shelving and pedestals for her in-studio curio cabinet.

Chance Al-Hajji: Horses in My Dreams, Like Waves, Like The Sea occupies a space in a high chroma, celestial universe, Al-Hajji’s folkloric story telling blends with the fantastical. Created through a daily process of reflection, their anthropomorphized horses act as vessels for growth and change within themselves. Whether they are grazing in pastoral landscapes or wading through oceans and galaxies, the characters that Al-Hajji creates live in a world of cartoonish nostalgia.

DC EMPTY
Andie Flores: This is A _____'s World

Saturday, 25 July 2026

2.00 - 3.00 PM | $15 GA (includes 2 drinks, 21+) | Free for Members

This is A _____'s World is a sculptural video performance collaboration between clown, clown, and clown. By stumbling through a failed stand-up routine and nonsensical inner monologue mumblings set to music, Andie Flores as clown will construct a follow-the-leader-type exploration of failure and hope, transforming the environment of DC EMPTY into a colorful, sharp-edged playroom.

ABOUT ANDIE FLORES:
Andie Flores (b. 1990) (she/her) is a performance artist in Austin, Texas, who uses embarrassment as a medium for investigating hyper-visibility in a racialized body across barriers of border, history, and capital. Flores creates experimental live performances that pair identity and comedic culture moments with over-exaggerated, often grotesque shapes and sounds. She is fascinated by the urgent task of world-building at the edge of the limits of art-making.

Her work and performances have been shown at Austin Sketch Fest, Bushwig, Presa House Gallery, The Museum of Human Achievement, OUTsider Festival, Ivester Contemporary, MASS Gallery, Future Front Film Fest, Contrast Film Festival, Fusebox Festival, The Dallas Latino Cultural Center, Fallout Theater, Coldtowne Theater, Crashbox, Roskilde Festival, Warehouse9, DORF Gallery, and Cagematch Project.
